It's well-known that the application of database optimization techniques can improve query performance.
However these techniques are often overlooked when it comes to analytical queries (especially those in-database) as those queries are already significantly faster than analysts are used to. However the application of techniques, such as AJIs, MVC, MLPPI, soft RI and columnar partitioning, can all lead to further improvements in processing time. This talk will explain those techniques and show how they can be applied to analytical data sets to increase the productivity of the analysts. Examples from the field will be presented detailing how they benefited the analytic process.
